FHU Community Fills Plates and Hearts at Thanksgiving Luncheon

Thanksgiving is a time for recognizing the things that can sometimes be taken for granted in our day-to-day life. Family, friends, and new opportunities deserve celebration and recognition during a time that can be both hectic and stressful. The students and staff of Francis Howell Union honor what they are most thankful for by hosting their annual Thanksgiving Luncheon.

“This is a great opportunity to build fellowship and relationships with students, staff, and families,” said Principal Robert Gaugh, as he greeted parents and visitors. Gaugh knows how tight-knit his school community is, and an event like this allows them to create an even greater fellowship. They opened their doors to those who support them, as well as students’ families and special guests from the FHSD Board of Education and Administration.

“It’s like the school is one big family at the table. It’s different,” said student Dakota Stout. Sitting at one long table spanning almost the entire length of the hallway, everyone joined together to enjoy their overflowing plates. FHU students took time and care to prepare the meal served to their fellow classmates and teachers. The tables were full of friends – both new and old as administrators sat next to students, and parents sat next to custodial staff. A full Thanksgiving feast was shared by those in attendance, including turkey, ham, stuffing, and a wide variety of desserts. Served by grinning staff members, the meal was enjoyed by all.

The luncheon is a reminder of how much we value the people we care for, as well as those who care for us, no matter how hectic and stressful the Holiday season can be. It’s a reminder of the “unity” inherent in being a student at Francis Howell Union. With plenty of smiles and laughs to go around, everyone left with full stomachs and full hearts.
